Weekly Focus | Business -Quandela expands French quantum innovation in Korea

French photonic quantum computing company Quandela is strengthening its presence in South Korea, identifying the country as a strategic partner for quantum manufacturing, research and technological cooperation.

During a press briefing in Seoul on September 28, Niccolò Somaschi, CEO and co-founder of Quandela, presented the company’s Korea strategy. Over the next two years, Quandela plans to identify Korean partners and develop cooperation in areas including quantum chip manufacturing, system integration, AI and high-performance computing (HPC).

South Korea’s expertise in semiconductors and advanced manufacturing offers strong potential for collaboration. Samsung Electronics, SK hynix and LG Innotek were highlighted as potential industrial partners, while Quandela is also considering a quantum manufacturing consortium bringing together Korean companies and research institutions.

The company is already developing its Korean ecosystem through collaborations with KAIST on photonic technologies and KRIBB on quantum molecular simulations for potential applications in drug discovery.

By combining French expertise in photonic quantum computing with Korea’s semiconductor, manufacturing and research capabilities, Quandela aims to support new industrial and technological cooperation between France and Korea and strengthen Korea’s role in the Asian quantum ecosystem.
