Air France is reopening the skies, flight by flight

Air France is reopening the skies, flight by flight

Air France is step-by-step reopening their network, and gradually resuming their flights, as travel restrictions are relaxed. They are currently flying to around 50 destinations - that's 3% of their network - but they'll gradually be increasing that number to around 15%.

Reopening of the Seoul-Paris route

The Seoul-Paris and Paris-Seoul route is also among the destinations they will start operating again as of 1 July. Air France will operate two weekly flight from Seoul to Paris Charles de Gaulle on Monday and Wednesday, departing at 00:50 and arriving at 05:55 and from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Seoul on Thursday and Saturday, departing at 23:30 and arriving at 17:35(+1).

Reinforced Sanitary Precautions

As the world faces an unprecedented health crisis, Air France has put special measures in place to guarantee travelers' safety:

  • Wearing of mask and physical distancing

Since 11 May, it is compulsory to wear a surgical mask upon arrival at the airport and on board Air France flights. Each customer is required to wear an approved mask throughout their trip. On practically all Air France flights, the currently low load factors enable us to observe physical distancing. A new staggered boarding procedure has been introduced, firstly boarding customers sitting at the back of the aircraft, moving up to those at the front, to limit contact.

  • Hygiene measures at the airport

- introduction of signage to facilitate physical distancing
- protective Plexiglass screens on all our counters
- regular disinfection of all our counters and self-service kiosks
- provision of hand sanitizer throughout the airport
- reorganization of check-in and boarding to avoid contact as much as possible

  • Temperature measurement

Since 11 May, the checking of passengers' body temperature is gradually implemented on all Air France flights. Their temperature will be taken using a non-contact infrared thermometer. Taking passengers’ temperature is an additional safety screening method, as a fever is a common symptom of COVID-19. Passengers' temperature must be below 38°C, otherwise may be denied boarding.

  • Cleaning of cabins, accessories and air filtration

- Vacuuming of carpets and all seats
- Cleaning of all hard surfaces (e.g. tablets, armrests, screens, remote controls and toilets) with approved disinfectants
- Systematic changing of blankets, sealed under protective plastic film packaging for optimal hygiene
- Since the outbreak of the virus, cushions have been removed on short and medium-haul flights. On long-haul flights to and from high-risk areas, cushions are cleaned between each flight with an approved disinfectant.

Aircrafts are equipped with an air filtration system consisting of High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters identical to those used in medical operating rooms. Cabin air is thus completely refreshed every 3 minutes. These filters extract more than 99.97% of virus-sized particles down to 0.3 micrometers and even smaller, ensuring the air quality in our cabins fully complies with health standards. Viruses, including coronavirus, whose size ranges from 0.08 to 0.16 micrometers, are systematically removed from the air in this way.
