Accelerating Decarbonization: Commercial Operation Begins at Samyang
Veolia Korea has officially commenced commercial operations of its new wood biomass boiler at the Samyang Foods Wonju factory. Operational as of December 2025, this milestone solidifies a 15-year partnership aimed at sustainable energy and ecological transformation.
To support Samyang Foods' rapid growth and its goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 30% by 2030, Veolia implemented its "GreenPath" solution. The newly operational facility utilizes wood pellets to generate green steam supplying 30 tons per hour (30t/h), replacing fossil fuel sources and delivering a 45% decarbonization effect for the plant’s operations.
Marking Veolia’s first wood biomass project in the Food & Beverage sector, CEO Hervé PENEAU stated the facility proves industrial growth and decarbonization can coexist, serving as a cornerstone for Samyang Foods’ ESG management.
