Exploring Digital Transformation: ESCP's Learning Expedition in South Korea

Entrepreneurs and top managers from ESCP Business School embarked on a learning expedition focused on digital transformation in South Korea.

From September 9 to 13, around 30 entrepreneurs and top managers from ESCP Business School, specializing in EMS Manager les Projets et la Transformation, embarked on an exciting Learning Expedition focused on Digital Transformation in South Korea. Organized by the French Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), this week-long program aimed to immerse participants in Korea's dynamic digital ecosystem and foster collaboration between French and Korean digital industries.

On the first day, the journey began at FKCCI with a warm welcome from Mr. David-Pierre Jalicon, CEO of DPJ&Partners and Chairman of the Chamber. He provided an insightful introduction to South Korean culture and business practices. Following his address, Serena Jeong, Associate Director at Robert Walters, discussed the challenges of human resources in South Korea, offering a comprehensive overview of the local job market. To round off the day, Olivier Mouroux, CEO and co-founder of Asiance, shared valuable insights into navigating the Korean digital marketing landscape.

On the second day, participants started with a presentation from the French Tech Community Seoul, which aims to unite actors from the French and Korean startup ecosystems to foster a dynamic community that encourages exchange and supports the development of startups in both countries. After that, they visited Hyundai Motor Group at Dreamplus Gangnam, where Senior Manager Guillaume Parvaix introduced them to the Group's innovations and relevant programs. They also toured the Raemian Gallery, a Samsung brand known for its innovative smart home solutions, showcasing how advanced design and technology are integrated into everyday living spaces.

On the third day, the group explored Incheon’s Smart City center, which, along with Yeongjong and Cheongna, is part of the Incheon Free Economic Zone. After that, the group visited KTSAT’s Yongin Satellite Control Center. Here, Kevin Choi, the Chief Technology Officer of KTSAT, explained the critical role of satellites in diverse sectors, highlighting how KTSAT supports various services both nationally and internationally.

On the fourth day, participants visited Asan Medical Center to learn how innovation and new technologies are transforming healthcare services. They also explored MORAI, a company specializing in AI simulations for autonomous driving. The day concluded with a meeting with Samuel du Retail from L'Oréal, who discussed the brand's innovative strategies in the beauty industry.

On the final day, the focus shifted to aerospace partnerships. Jean-Michel Feder, Strategy & Sales Director at Thales Korea, spoke about the significance of Franco-Korean collaboration in advancing aerospace technologies, sharing his extensive experience in the field.

ESCP’s Learning Expedition on Digital Transformation not only provided participants with firsthand exposure to South Korea's thriving digital ecosystem but also facilitated meaningful dialogues between professionals from the French and Korean industries. The insights gained during this journey underscored Korea's commitment to fostering innovation and technology, solidifying its status as a global hub for digital business development.
