Gunbae & Santé! Celebrates Korea-France Friendship Through a Unique Culinary Collaboration

As part of the celebrations marking the 140th Anniversary of Korea-France Diplomatic Relations, the FKCCI was pleased to organize Gunbae & Santé!, a special gastronomic event bringing together French pastry craftsmanship and Korean traditional dessert culture.

Held on May 30 at Sebitseom Floating Island overlooking the Han River, the event offered guests an exclusive culinary experience highlighting the rich heritage and creativity of both countries through desserts, traditional Korean liquors, and carefully selected wine pairings.

The evening featured a remarkable collaboration between renowned French pastry chef Gilles Marchal and Park Sunae, Korea’s Food Master No. 33 and a leading artisan of traditional Korean hangwa. Together, they showcased how French and Korean culinary traditions can complement one another while preserving their unique identities.

Guests had the opportunity to discover a refined selection of creations inspired by both cultures, reflecting the spirit of friendship, exchange, and mutual appreciation that has characterized Korea-France relations for the past 140 years.

More than a tasting experience, Gunbae & Santé! highlighted the role of gastronomy as a bridge between cultures, bringing together distinguished guests, culinary professionals, and partners to celebrate the enduring ties between France and Korea through the universal language of food.
