Weekly Focus | Business - Celltrion Expands Its European Sales Network Through France’s Gifrer
South Korean biopharmaceutical group Celltrion has completed the integration of French healthcare company Gifrer, following its acquisition in May 2026, strengthening its commercial presence in France and across Europe.
Founded in France in 1912, Gifrer operates a network of more than 9,000 pharmacies and around 800 hospitals, providing Celltrion with direct access to a distribution channel that complements its existing hospital-focused European sales network.
Celltrion plans to leverage this network to expand the distribution of its biosimilars and subcutaneous treatments, while also introducing generic drugs, healthcare products and dermo-cosmetics to the French market.
The acquisition illustrates a new dimension of France-Korea business cooperation in the healthcare sector, combining Celltrion’s biopharmaceutical portfolio with Gifrer’s established local distribution network. The Korean group ultimately aims to extend this model to other European markets.
