A New Chapter between France and Korea: FKCCI and MEDEF International to Strengthen Cooperation with Strategic Partnership

On April 3, the French Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), in partnership with MEDEF International, Business France, the Embassy of France in Korea and the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), hosted a high-level gathering at the FKI Conference Center in Seoul, bringing together around 100 participants from institutional and business circles.

The morning opened with remarks by David-Pierre Jalicon, Chairman of FKCCI and CEO of DPJ & Partners Architecture, alongside Frédéric Sanchez, Chairman of MEDEF International, Chairman of CCIFI (French Chambers of Commerce and Industry Abroad) and Chairman of Fives Group, and François Jackow, Chairman of the France–Korea Council at MEDEF International and CEO of Air Liquide Group, setting the tone for a forward-looking dialogue on strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.

Opening the session, David-Pierre Jalicon emphasized the importance of long-term collaboration, stating that “Today’s signing anchors our relationship in the long term and highlights the need for collective action to sustainably strengthen economic ties between France and Korea.”

Frédéric Sanchez then highlighted the role of MEDEF International and the importance of coordination between institutions and businesses, noting that “all united to succeed, the alignment of French institutions and businesses is essential to navigate international dynamics and build strong, lasting partnerships with Korea.”

François Jackow underlined the active role of MEDEF International in supporting French companies in Korea, emphasizing key values such as agility, responsiveness and effective cooperation between French and Korean stakeholders in an increasingly complex global environment.

The session also included a presentation on the French business presence in Korea, followed by a discussion titled “Do’s and Don’ts in Korea”, led by FKCCI Board members Philippe Li, Julien Herveau, Gérald Massenet, Ida Daussy and David-Pierre Jalicon. This exchange provided practical and experience-based insights into navigating the Korean market, highlighting the importance of long-term engagement, trust and cultural understanding.

A key highlight of the event was the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding between the FKCCI and MEDEF International, marking a new step in strengthening institutional cooperation. The agreement aims to enhance coordination between both organizations, support French companies in their international development, and further structure France–Korea economic exchanges through joint initiatives such as business delegations, forums and B2B meetings.

Sincere appreciation is extended to Bridor and Café Richard for their valued support in providing breakfast, contributing to the welcoming and refined atmosphere of the event.

Through this high-level gathering held at the FKI, the FKCCI once again demonstrated its central role in facilitating dialogue, supporting companies and fostering concrete business opportunities between France and Korea.
