Bastille Day 2023's Edition: Flashback to the Most Exciting French Celebration of the Year!
On July 21st, The FKCCI, in collaboration with the French Embassy in Korea and its cultural service, organized a dazzling Bastille Day that gathered more than 800 people from the French and Korean Community. Despite the weather bad circumstances and the postponement of the event, guests responded to the call to celebrate the most important French National day of the year, the 14th of July.
The French National Day commemorates the historic storming of the Bastille on July 14th, 1789, marking a pivotal moment of the French Revolution, along with the Fête de la Fédération, a celebration of French unity on July 14th, 1790. Celebrating Bastille Day goes beyond a mere display of traditional cuisine, delightful beverages, captivating musical performances and renowned brands, it is an opportunity for the French growing community in Korea to meet and bond but also to strengthen the friendship between France and Korea by embracing the essence of the French Culture.
The event launching ceremony started at 8pm with speeches from the FKCCI Chairman, David-Pierre Jalicon as well as one from FKCCI CEO, M. Henri Bacquet.

This is evident diplomatically through the recent visit of President Yoon Suk-Yeol to France and the visits of numerous French and Korean Ministers to both countries. Economically, our trade has also flourished, with an increase of over 30% in commercial exchanges. Following the welcoming speeches, the French buffet was served, offering the guest an overview of French cuisine with dishes like Boeuf Bourguignon and Blanquette de Veau. The event also featured various stalls offering exquisite French delicacies, including charcuterie and cheese by France Gourmet, wines by Chateau Minuty (Moët Hennessy) and Seoul Wine & Spirit, champagnes by BonValet (Nihonshu Korea), cider by Dancing Cider, beer by Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor and Pax Pils (Beyond Company), lemonades by Bel Normande and Elixia (Golden Bèll), sodas by Perrier, Bulles d’Armoriques (CNC), Orangina and Evian (Lotte Chilsung), chocolate spread by Bonne Maman (Macrocom), ice cream by Alkimia and olives by SMIL. In addition, exciting animations were hold like a French-inspired temporary tattoo printing activity by Prinker, a photography exhibition of Yun SeokJae’s works, as well as Renault Korean Motors’ booth showcasing their hybrid XM3 e-tech hybrid car model. An outstanding Lucky draw, including gifts such as luxurious hotel stay, last-generation electronic devices and high-quality skincare and cosmetics products has also delighted the guest throughout the evening. But every guest went home with gifts in hands as L’Oréal and Jacquet Brossard (Macrocom) made sure to give serum, perfumes, hand cream and brownies to all the participants.
As the event unfolds, the group Zubin Ensemble has also enchanted the public with their mesmerizing performances of classical and French variety music, displaying their aptitudes on piano, violon, cello and guitar. During the Lucky drawing, Elody Stanislas gave us the honor to take the mic to warmly congratulate the winners. Elody is a French broadcaster, actor and writer of Guadeloupe (Caribbean) that has participated in different TV broadcast and shows in South Korea. The evening has culminated with two DJ sets of young talented French and Korean artists: Méchant Chaton and Suhèr Chandi
