Île de France (Paris) Region and FKCCI Turn Franco-Korean Ties into Business Opportunities
As part of the official visit of Valérie Pécresse, President of Île de France (Paris) Region, to South Korea, a networking reception dedicated to strengthening economic relations between France and Korea was held on 16 September 2026 at the Pullman Ambassador Seoul.
Co-organized by Île de France (Paris) Region and the French Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), the event brought together institutional representatives, business leaders, investors and key stakeholders from the French and Korean innovation ecosystems.
The reception provided an opportunity for the Île de France (Paris) Region delegation to engage directly with the Franco-Korean business community and explore new areas of cooperation in strategic sectors including artificial intelligence, biotechnology, semiconductors, space technologies, smart mobility and sustainable construction.
In her remarks, Valérie Pécresse highlighted Île de France (Paris) Region’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with South Korea and transforming long-standing institutional ties into concrete economic, technological and scientific partnerships.
The regional delegation included five innovative Île de France (Paris) Region companies seeking to connect with potential clients, industrial partners and investors in Korea: Entalpic, GenoSafe, SpaceDreamS, WhiteLab Genomics, XtreeE.
The reception enabled these companies to present their technologies, gain a deeper understanding of the Korean market and initiate discussions with local businesses and institutions.
The visit took place during a particularly symbolic year, as France and Korea celebrate the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026. It also marked the 40th anniversary of FKCCI, as well as the ten years of cooperation between Île de France (Paris) Region and Gyeonggi Province,
David-Pierre Jalicon, Chairman of FKCCI, also addressed the guests and reaffirmed the Chamber’s role in developing bilateral economic relations and supporting both French and Korean companies.
He emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for companies, institutions, researchers and investors to meet, identify complementary strengths and build lasting partnerships.
Through its extensive network and business support services, FKCCI assists French companies with their establishment and growth in Korea, while also supporting Korean companies seeking to expand into France. This mission will be further strengthened through Maison France, which will provide a dedicated space to welcome and support companies looking to establish or expand their activities in Korea or in France.
The networking reception formed part of a broader program of meetings held in South Korea on 15 and 16 September. The Île de France (Paris) Region delegation met with major Korean industrial and technology players and explored Korean initiatives in smart cities and autonomous mobility.
The visit also contributed to renewing cooperation between Île de France (Paris) Region and Gyeonggi Province through a new joint action plan focused on innovation, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies and mobility.
The Chamber will also co-organize the symposium “140 Years of Friendship Between France and Korea” on October 16, 2026, at the French National Assembly in Paris, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss the past, present and future of bilateral relations.
Against the backdrop of expanding economic exchanges between France and Korea, the reception confirmed a shared ambition to connect companies, territories and research organizations and develop partnerships that create value in both countries.
