On January 28, David-Pierre Jalicon, Chairman of the French-Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), participated in a high-level meeting hosted by President Lee Jae-myung at the main building of Cheong Wa Dae, held under the theme “Growth for All.” The meeting brought together representatives of foreign-invested companies to strengthen dialogue between the Korean government and the international business community.
Upon arrival, President Lee personally greeted the participants before opening the discussions. The meeting served as a platform for open and direct exchanges on the business environment, investment conditions, and the role of foreign-invested companies in supporting Korea’s sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
Representing the French business community in Korea, Chairman David-Pierre Jalicon reaffirmed the FKCCI’s role as a key bridge between French companies and Korean institutions. During the discussions, he highlighted the strong contribution of French companies to the Korean economy. France currently ranks as the third-largest foreign investor in Korea, with USD 3.8 billion invested, and nearly 300 French companies operating in the country. Together, they generate more than 3,300 jobs and actively contribute to innovation, industrial competitiveness, and long-term value creation across multiple sectors.
During the session, President Lee emphasized the importance of foreign investment as a key driver of innovation, job creation, and long-term competitiveness for the Korean economy. Participants, including Chairman Jalicon, were invited to share their perspectives directly, raising practical issues and expectations related to regulatory frameworks, market access, and future policy directions.
This meeting underscored the Korean government’s continued commitment to fostering a business-friendly and forward-looking environment and to strengthening partnerships with foreign-invested companies. The FKCCI reaffirmed its willingness to work closely with Korean authorities to support an open, competitive, and future-oriented economic ecosystem.
