Discover Industry 4.0 and Digital Innovation in Korea: FKCCI's mission with ESCP Europe

A year ago, FKCCI and its partner ESCP Europe, won Bpifrance's call for tender in the framework of the 3rd generation of the Accelerator program for Middle-market companies. Thereby, FKCCI organized a one week study trip in Korea around "Industry 4.0 and Digital Innovation" to introduce the French companies to the dynamic Korean market and its innovative business environment.

Companies specialised in construction, transports, events, industry and chemistry, visited innovative installations in the economic hub of Seoul region to highlight industrial innovation in the 4th economy of Asia. They could visit the largest logistic hub of Asia,. Operated by CJ group, one of Korea's chaebols in food, pharma, logistics and entertainment business, this new automatized hub just opened in January 2019. FKCCI and the mission's participants were the first ones to visit the facility!

On the program also, the companies discovered the smart city of Songdo, its automatized harbor, its pilot center to automatically manage safety issues in the city and Posco smart home and smart city solutions. The free Economic Zone of Incheon also presented the numerous investment opportunities for foreign companies in the region.

Beyond the field visits, it was the opportunity to hear testimonies of innovative SMEs and start-ups which succeeded in Korea, such as Poma, Etienne Lacroix, A2MAC1, Lectra and Chomarat to cite a few of them. The participants visited the Seoul hub of Orange Fab as well as Asiance and SKT's showroom to get insight on the Korean digital ecosystem! 

Last but not least, the FKCCI gave the participants the starter kit to do business in Korea and market opportunities to help them build their overseas strategy. Dos and don'ts, good practices, intercultural communication, .... Our bicultural team of experts could guide them in this challenging environment. We wish them success in their future undertakings and FKCCI was glad to accompany them during this week full of encounters and cultural discoveries!
