JOB SCOPE AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Laminates Engineer, reporting directly to R&D and Engineering Laminates Manager and reporting functionally to Plant Manager

  • defines and promotes activities and projects for continuous improvement of methods and technologies. He/she analyzes the lamination processes and makes suggestions on how to improve them, working with the Engineering and Operations teams in recognizing opportunities, making and implementing changes, and sustaining improvements
  • consolidating the existing processes and equipment, identifies all equipment improvements (ex. updated technologies, in-line visual controls,…) arriving to co-design new lines with the external support of selected suppliers
  • plays a role in the NPI (New Product Introduction) program, covering all activities to define, develop and launch new laminate colors at first and new multi-layer compositions in the second instance

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATED ACTIVITIES

Laminates Engineer

  • Provides technical support, direction, and guidance on improvement of technology, processes, and equipment reliability to support capacity, capability, and improvements to deliver service and quality results
  • Provides support in organizing and managing manufacturing workflows
  • Propose upgrade to systems and processes with new technology or materials
  • Manage the development of manufacturing and testing processes for new products introduction
  • Provides technical support for the day-by-day manufacturing and translates technical knowledge to functional groups, written specifications and training requirements
  • Leverages lean tools, including value stream mapping, to improve overall manufacturing cycle time and scrap reduction
  • Gives support for new equipment characteristics definition, introduction and ramp-up
  • Provides guidance to support standardization of processes and materials across manufacturing shifts
  • Partners with Quality to develop quality control plans required to sustain Operations and deliver product results
  • Apply problem solving techniques to drive continuous improvement on process and equipment
  • Develops and directs procedures and methods to ensure that Quality standards are met and maintained
  • Collaborates with other local departments, in group teams and external suppliers
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

EXTERNAL: Suppliers

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS - PORTRAIT OF A PERFECT CANDIDATE

  • MUST HAVE:
    • Method (basics of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement tools, problem solving, creativity)
    • Knowledge of production KPIs (efficiency, OEE, extra consumption, finance elements)
    • Project Management (product development, time management, stakeholder management)

 

SOFT SKILLS - PORTRAIT OF A PERFECT CANDIDATE

  • MUST HAVE:
    • Good communication skills
    • Good relationship skills and team working
    • Flexibility

 

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial / Manufacturing and/or Mechanical Engineering preferred or other equivalent disciplines

 

LANGUAGES:

  • MUST HAVE:
    • Korean (preferably mother tongue)
    • English (at least intermediate level, both written and oral)
  • NICE TO HAVE:
    • Other Languages (Italian, French)
