FKCCI : AI and Greentech Take Center Stage at the France–Korea Tech Summit 2025

The French-Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) successfully hosted the France–Korea Tech Summit 2025 on Friday, October 24 at COEX Hall D2 in Seoul as part of KES 2025 – Korea Electronics Show, the country’s leading ICT and electronics exhibition bringing together over 150 business leaders, innovators, and policymakers to explore how artificial intelligence and green technologies are shaping the industries and societies of tomorrow from both France and Korea’s innovation ecosystems

The Summit served as a unique platform for cross-sector dialogue under the theme “Innovation for the Future.” The event featured two major sessions, a VIP Panel Discussion and a Green Tech Round Table both highlighting the power of technology to drive human-centric and sustainable progress.

Moderated by Philippe Li, Vice President of the FKCCI & Honorary Chairman and Senior Foreign Attorney at Kim & Chang, the VIP Panel Discussion brought together Gilles Babinet (Vice President of France’s National Digital Committee), Stéphanie Seydoux (Ex-Director-General Envoy for Multilateral Affairs, WHO), and Sang-Hyup Kim (Director-General, Global Green Growth Institute). The conversation explored how AI, governance, and global cooperation can accelerate industrial transformation while remaining people-centered and ethical.

“Not only do we need regulators, but we also need political will — to prove that we share the same vision of AI, sustainability, and progress. Regulation should not be seen as an obstacle to innovation, but as the condition for meaningful and responsible growth.” - Gilles Babinet (Vice President of the French National Digital Committee)

“Health is the ultimate indicator of what we do to our environment — 99% of the world’s population breathes unhealthy air. Pollution is not just a health issue; it’s an economic one, costing 6% of global GDP. We must bridge the gap between what we know and what we act upon.” - Stéphanie Seydoux (WHO Director-General’s Envoy for Multilateral Affairs)

“To truly decarbonize industry, we must bring together the green and digital transformations. AI can reduce both the costs and the carbon footprint of power generation — but innovation alone is not enough. We need global collaboration to turn technology into real climate action.”- Sang-Hyup Kim (Director-General, Global Green Growth Institute – GGGI)

Speakers underlined the growing role of AI in accelerating industrial and ecological transitions and the need for cross-border cooperation to ensure innovation remains inclusive responsible and human-centered

The Greentech Panel moderated by Oriane Lemaire, independent consultant for international cooperation in energy and environment sectors, the Panel gathered Taejin Yoon (Glassdome Korea Europe), Miso Kim (KAIST), and Sunwoong Yang (KEPCO KDN) to explore how artificial intelligence is redefining the energy sector through smarter, cleaner, and more efficient systems.

The discussion highlighted AI’s potential to optimize energy production, distribution, and consumption, with concrete examples from Korea’s first Virtual Power Plant (VPP) in Jeju, operated by KEPCO KDN, as well as advances in smart materials and sensor technologies for future energy grids.

Participants also emphasized the role of international cooperation particularly between France, Korea, and Europe in scaling green technologies and accelerating the energy transition.

The panel concluded with an open discussion on the challenges of AI integration, data management, and cybersecurity, underlining the need to balance innovation with sustainability and resilience.

In the afternoon, the momentum continued with the Tech4Good Pitch Contest, organized by La French Tech Seoul with the support of the FKCCI, which showcased French and Korean startups developing impactful technologies across healthcare, energy efficiency, green mobility, semiconductor automation, and food sustainability. The finalists presented innovative solutions ranging from AI-driven manufacturing optimization and smart energy management to early cancer detection, elderly care technologies, and eco-friendly consumer platforms, illustrating the diversity and dynamism of the France–Korea innovation ecosystem.

The session was evaluated by a distinguished jury composed of Julien Herveau, Country Lead Partner of Forvis Mazars; Olivier Mouroux, Co-Founder & Co-CEO of Asiance Korea; Isabelle Morin, Co-President of La French Tech Seoul; Jihye So, Corporate Affairs & Engagement Director of L’Oréal Korea; Yu Jin Choi, Team Leader of MYSC and Hyunsung Kim, CEO of Kim Venturous.

The jury awarded the 2025 Tech4Good Prize to three outstanding startups, highlighting the vitality and creativity of the French-Korean tech ecosystem:

The 1st prize was awarded to Yindii, whose food surplus app helps businesses in Asia turn food waste into profit by connecting eco-conscious consumers and sustainable restaurants through a win-win model.

The 2nd prize went to Tinental, recognized for its AI-powered solution “Caleno Energy”, which reduces industrial energy waste by up to 60% through real-time optimization and a zero-Capex performance-based model.

The 3rd prize was given to Purom Nano Convergence Technology for its eco-friendly Raddon-Blocking Paint_All-in-One, a sustainable coating innovation combining protection, durability, and environmental responsibility.

The Summit was part of KES 2025, Korea’s leading ICT and electronics exhibition, which hosted over 550 companies and 70,000 visitors this year. Notably, the company that participated in the French Pavilion — Tinental was awarded a KES 2025 Innovation Award, highlighting the global impact of French-Korean collaboration in technology and sustainability.

With discussions on ethical AI, green transformation, and Franco-Korean cooperation, the France–Korea Tech Summit 2025 reaffirmed the shared ambition of both nations to build a tech ecosystem where innovation serves people and the planet.

The event was made possible thanks to the support of JCDecaux, Asiance, Daegu Metropolitan City, Forvis Mazars, PwC, Samil, Veolia, Invest Seoul, IT-Concept and The Executive Centre.
