Mersen Korea inaugurates its new graphite materials production plant
Mersen Korea announced that it has completed a new plant located in Cheonan, in Chungcheongnam-do. The CEO of the Group, Luc Themelin, as well as the CEOs of the main clients, and the CEO of the FKCCI, Cédric Legrand, attended the ceremony to celebrate the inauguration.
Mersen, which established a subsidiary in Korea in October 1986, is the leading French group, specializing in electrical protection and advanced materials such as graphite and ion implantation parts for semiconductor production and wafer equipment.
Spanning 23 000 m2, the Cheonan plant plans to mainly manufacture graphite products, which will be used in the semiconductor field, one of Korea's core industries. The group expects to achieve 100 billion won in sales by 2027, doubling its current sales. This completion has been set to respond to fast growing business market, while meeting the needs of major customers, some of which are namely Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, MEMC, and Axcelis.
Luc Themelin, Chief Executive Officer of Mersen, said: “Our new site will enable us to strengthen ourselves considerably in our field of excellence: graphite-based specialty products for the semiconductor markets, whose importance continues to grow up.”
