HSBC forecast Korea to grow 2.2 percent this year, and 2.4 percent next year, with the central bank to cut its base rate by 25 basis points this year.
Korea can afford to implement more monetary easing to boost the economy amid weak growth, but not for the purpose of recapitalizing policy banks to finance restructuring of debt-laden companies, Frederic Neumann, an economist of HSBC, said.
