FKCCI Meets with the Korea Fair Trade Commission to Strengthen Dialogue with the International Business Community

On November 6th, Sonia Chaeib Kim, Director of the French-Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), took part in the first official meeting between the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) and foreign chambers of commerce in Korea.
Representing over 475 member companies, Ms. Chaeib Kim expressed her appreciation for this initiative, which reflects the KFTC’s commitment to open dialogue and collaboration with the international business community.
In her remarks, she highlighted the long-standing partnership between France and Korea — a relationship built on innovation, mutual trust, and openness. As both countries prepare to celebrate 140 years of diplomatic relations and the 40th anniversary of the FKCCI, these milestones serve as a reminder of the importance of fostering a fair, transparent, and balanced economic relationship.
French companies have long contributed to Korea’s economic landscape, investing in key sectors such as energy transition, cosmetics, mobility, advanced materials, and digital technologies. Ms. Chaeib Kim also addressed several regulatory challenges that continue to impact international businesses, notably in defense, online trade, pharmaceuticals, and agri-food.
She emphasized that regulatory cooperation and early dialogue between authorities and companies are essential to maintaining fair competition and strengthening investor confidence. “Transparent and predictable communication is key to reinforcing Korea’s reputation as one of the most open and reliable business environments in Asia,” she noted.
The FKCCI reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the KFTC to promote fairness, transparency, and sustainable growth — values that continue to guide the Franco-Korean partnership.
