FKCCI Updates | France–Korea Relations – 140 Years of Partnership Celebrations Launched

The celebrations marking the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and Korea have officially begun, opening a year of cultural, economic and institutional initiatives across the country.

The launch was marked by a prestigious concert in Bucheon, bringing together the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra, French pianist Arielle Beck and conductor Adrien Perruchon. Featuring works by Ravel, Debussy and Korean composer Park Song-Aa, the program reflected the depth of artistic dialogue between the two countries and the strong enthusiasm of Korean audiences.

Earlier this month, the Embassy of France in Korea also unveiled the official cultural season program, which will include more than one hundred events in over twenty cities nationwide. On this occasion, actress Jun Ji-hyun and singer Felix were introduced as honorary ambassadors of the 140th anniversary celebrations, highlighting the broad cultural resonance of this milestone year.

Beyond culture, the anniversary also reflects the strength of bilateral economic ties. A recent study on the French economic footprint in Korea shed light on the long-term, strategic and concrete presence of French companies across key sectors of the Korean economy.

This milestone year also resonates with the 40th anniversary of the French-Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry, marking four decades of commitment to fostering business dialogue and strengthening economic cooperation between France and Korea.

Throughout the year, these initiatives will help strengthen dialogue, encourage new partnerships and reinforce the shared ambition that continues to shape the France–Korea relationship.
